The Haitian American Museum of Chicago (HAMOC) is happy to announce its first Kompa Soiree Flag Day Celebration. Haitian Flag Day is a major national holiday that is not only celebrated in Haiti but by Haitians across the diaspora who proudly adorn their cars, homes, and themselves with Haitian flags. This event will not only uplift the flag, but also Haitian arts, music, cuisine and dance.
The night will open with a keynote speaker who will briefly educate guests on the history of the Haitian flag. Will also have some words by the director and co-founder of the Haitian American Museum of Chicago, Elsie Hector Hernandez. This will be followed by music, dancing, food, performances and raffle prizes. Proceeds from this event will support struggling Haitian artists and support the Ayisien-Polonè (Haitian-Polish) Multimediai/Film project.
Come by and dance Kompa with us!
