HAMOC Wins First Place at the Civic Scopeathon

October 11, 2016

South Side Civic a CAPP-student led group partnered with UChicago’s Institute of Politics (IOP), Department of Computer Science, and the Harris School's CAPP program to host the second Civic ScopeAthon! The Civic ScopeAthon's main objective is to focus on a civic-minded or community-based problem, form cross-functional teams to scope out the problem, break the problem down into its parts and develop a plan to address the problem. While traditional hackathons are about writing code, the Civic scopeathon is more about understanding the purpose and use of technology in helping solve problems. HAMOC had the fortune of participating and winning this year's event!  We look forward to collaborating with the UChicago team on novel approaches aimed to grow the museum and further support our mission of sharing Haitian art and culture.
